Operation and hosting in Switzerland

Why it is needed

A language model on its own does not know the law in force

Models guess at citations when they have none. In tax advice that is not an option.

Evidenced, not plausible

Every passage delivered carries its citation: act, article, version and date. What cannot be evidenced is not delivered – invented citations are ruled out by design.

As at a date, not merely current

The law changes. A question about a tax year is answered against the version in force at the time, not against today’s state.

By jurisdiction, not across the board

Five jurisdictions with their levels – in Switzerland, federal and cantonal – plus administrative practice: all kept separate and narrowed down precisely, right down to the individual canton.

Comparison

Broad knowledge or evidenced law

A general language model is a powerful tool – it is simply not built as a source of law. Where it is broad, the knowledge space is deep.

General language model without a specialist knowledge space · Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service CH · DE · AT · LI · LU

  • Source reference for every statement

    General language model
LimitedSupplied when the model runs a search – not guaranteed and not consistent.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesEvery passage carries the enactment, article, version and date. No reference, no result.
  • Protection against invented references

    General language model
NoA language model produces text. Non-existent provisions and rulings are a known risk.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesOnly what is present in the holdings is delivered. Retrieval does not produce the text, it finds it.
  • Law as it stood on a given date

    General language model
NoAnswers from the state of its training or its search – without a reliable link to the tax year.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesA query against a reference date returns the version in force at that time.
  • Depth in tax and legal matters

    General language model
LimitedBroad general knowledge. Strong on wording, thin on specialist questions and fringe areas.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesHoldings cut for tax and legal questions instead of general knowledge.
  • Federal and cantonal level

    General language model
LimitedFederal law is mostly present, cantonal law remains patchy.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesLevels are kept apart and can be filtered precisely – down to the individual canton.
  • Administrative practice

    General language model
LimitedCirculars, guidelines and information sheets are rarely covered in full.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesAdministrative practice is a document type of its own in the holdings and can be addressed individually.
  • Currency

    General language model
LimitedDepends on the provider’s training status.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesContinuously maintained holdings; changes create new versions instead of overwriting.
  • Verifiability for audit and supervision

    General language model
NoHow an answer came about can hardly be evidenced after the fact.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesEvery passage drawn on is traceable with its version and date.
  • Choice of language model

    General language model
    NoModel and provider are fixed.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesModel-independent: you connect your own model, also on your own infrastructure.
  • Handling of your queries

    General language model
LimitedGoverned differently depending on provider, plan and setting.
    Nyteca® Knowledge as a Service
YesOperated in Switzerland. Your queries do not flow back into training.

The comparison refers to general language models without a connected specialist corpus; the feature set and terms of the providers change continuously. The knowledge space delivers evidenced passages – the professional assessment and the responsibility for it remain yours.

Architecture

From the source to the citable passage

Five stages. Not a one-off data set, but a foundation maintained continuously.

  1. 1

    Preparation

    A single unified corpus

Legal texts, administrative practice and rulings are converted into a common format. What arrives in different formats is afterwards available in uniform shape.

  2. 2

    Structure

    Structure instead of running text

The corpus is structured: act, article, paragraph, item. Structure, citation and date stay attached to every passage.

  3. 3

    Versions

    Law over time

Every amendment creates a new version with its date of validity. Earlier versions remain retrievable instead of being overwritten by the current state.

  4. 4

    Index

    Semantic index

Passage-level embeddings in a vector index, multilingual for German, French and Italian. Semantic and term-based search work together.

  5. 5

    Retrieval

    Retrieval with citation

Every hit comes back with act, article, version and date. No verifiable citation, no result.

Scope

What the interface does

A knowledge space you connect your own model to – without your data becoming part of it.

01Retrieval endpoint
Semantic and term-based search across the entire corpus, filterable by jurisdiction, level, area of law, document type and reference date.
02Connect your own models
The knowledge space is model-independent. You connect your own language model and keep control over what your model answers.
03Citable answers
Every text block carries its citation. What is not documented is not delivered – the basis for verifiable information.
04Point-in-time queries
Queries against a reference date return the version in force at that time. The historical corpus built up over around a year and a half is available for this.
05Change feed
Subscribable notification when a monitored act or area of law changes.
06Operated in Switzerland
Operated by Tax AI AG in Baar. Your queries do not flow back into training.
